Family Dog has been amazing for me and my pup! We started with Puppy Day School and have taken many of their other classes. Each class has helped strengthen my bond with my pup and has even given me the confidence to break into dog competitions! Life really is better with a well-trained dog!

The first 16 weeks of a puppy’s life are the most critical for socialization. This is the window when both fears and confidence are formed, and learning happens at an incredibly fast rate. While dogs can continue learning throughout their lives, nothing compares to how quickly and effectively they absorb information during this early developmental period.
As a veterinarian, I frequently see dogs whose lack of early socialization has left them fearful—sometimes to the point of being unsafe. I get asked about behavioral issues in at least half of my appointments, which speaks volumes about how common and serious these challenges are.
When I brought home my own puppies, I was determined to make the most of their socialization period. I wanted them to grow into confident, adaptable dogs who could go anywhere with me and handle a variety of situations calmly and happily. That’s why I was thrilled to discover Family Dog’s Puppy Day School.
Enrolling my pups was an easy decision. The program provided structured training and socialization while I was at work—so much more beneficial than leaving them in a kennel all day. Not only were their bodies cared for, but their minds were actively engaged. That mental stimulation paid off in the evenings, when we were able to enjoy calm, quality time together.
One of the biggest bonuses for me was seeing them integrate the socialization checklist developed by my favorite veterinary behaviorist. This level of thoughtfulness and evidence-based practice really impressed me.
For puppy owners who are new to training, the Friday group classes are invaluable. They tie everything together and guide you on how to reinforce training at home. Because let’s face it—training only works if you consistently practice it in your everyday environment.
The staff at Family Dog are not only kind but impressively knowledgeable. When one of my dogs struggled with a particular skill, they immediately worked with me to find an alternative approach that worked better for her. That level of support made a huge difference.
Today, I have two well-adjusted dogs who love going to class, and I wholeheartedly recommend Puppy Day School to all of my clients with new puppies.
